The Registry Wedding

Those who follow me on Instagram may have seen these two photos yesterday. Why the champage in plastic cups and paper streamers? Alasdair and I had our registry wedding two days ago in the lovely neighbourhood of Marzahn-Hellersdorf. We legally tied the knot surrounded by communist apartment blocks and a Kik and Woolworths store. It was perfectly ridiculous. Our location was coincidental. They offered us the earliest appointment and I freaking loved it. I decided to go in my Alexander Wang brogues and the blogged to death tailored trousers by H&M that I love so much together with a flowy white blouse and a Lanvin for H&M blazer that is resting on my arm. Of course we all got up way too late and I had ten minutes to get ready which means my awkwardly slept-in hair looks stupid.

Bittersweet Endings

"That's all folks!" as Porky Pig would say. My final post of the Maldives, one of the most beautiful holidays I have ever been on. Dolphins, flower baths, champagne, chocolate dipped strawberries, stunning scenery and us not wanting to leave sums up these final photos quite well. So now I'll be taking you back to Berlin and outfit posts, at least visually. I have to give myself a much needed kick in the ass to start taking my camera around Berlin with me more often.

Maldives

Looking at these pictures now just makes me want to hop onto the next plane and fly back. For the second part of our honeymoon Alasdair and I flew to the Maldives to the Four Seasons Kuda Huraa resort. After all our wedding stress and running around Paris for three days we were in serious need of relaxation, as in doing nothing but lying at the beach, snorkeling and drinking fresh fruit smoothies. It was one week of pure bliss. Here are the first photos, mostly of our beautiful bungalow. Tomorrow I have some photos of the island to show you!

Miniature Adventures

The final Paris photos. This was the first time I had been to Paris since I was 14. We had such an amazing time and despite what I've heard, the Parisians were really lovely. The city is beautiful but super hectic, quite different from Berlin in that aspect. I loved the ambundance of delicious food and wine, the cleanlyness, everyone was so well dressed and the shopping is amazing! I'd love to go back and check out some vintage stores. Having a petit dejeuner every morning was perfect but the prices in Paris are everything but that. Everything is more than twice as expensive as in Berlin. A beer for 8€?! Are they insane?! It hurts me to pay more than 2.50€!

Also quite memorable, buying two eggs thinking they were cooked for our picninc and then cracking one of them over my knee. You can imagine how the rest of the story went. I don't think I've ever seen Alasdair laugh so hard. Drinking wine in the park and buying the worst cheese because we had no idea what was what, strolling down the streets at dusk, having a waiter feed Alasdair escargot (yes it happened!), spending about 3 hours running around trying to find a decent place to watch the tennis, going to the Louvre in the evening trying to sneak into a private party (it didn't work), chatting with an insanely smashed man who fell asleep behind his own bar after serving us plates of cheese...the list goes own. So many small adventures, I can't wait to go back!

The Party

                                                                    All photos by Steffen Böttcher

My absolute favourite part about our party in the evening was the band. I can't stand the idea of a DJ at a wedding and since Alasdair and I are huge fans of swing music we hired an unbelievably awesome band from Frankfurt; saxophone, drums, bass, guitar, trumpet, the whole works. The singer was just mindblowing and all of our guests were up dancing the entire night. Our wedding song was "Bei mir bist du schön" by The Andrews Sisters. We did not actually pick it ourselves but the band did and it couldn't have been more perfect. They are one of my favourite bands!

Before we all started dancing there were quite a lot of speeches and I was pretty much crying at all of them. Well you can't really expect anything else can you :D. It was seriously the best day of my life. To be with everyone that I love in the same place at the same time was a true luxury. I am the only one from my family, apart from my grandfather, that lives in Germany. My mother, sister and brother live in the U.S. and my father lives in Singapore and Thailand. Alasdair's sister lives in New Zealand and his parents in Scotland. Our friends are strewn throughout the world. To have them all there with us was the best wedding gift I could have asked for!

This was the last wedding post. I really hope you enjoyed them! Tomorrow you'll be seeing photos of Paris!
