Where's the You in Trend

Outfits

There's a hurricane warning out for the North of Germany and I'm having my Dorothy moment today in this blush, tartan and white leather combo. Paint splash snake pumps add that extra factor of surprise to an outfit that would otherwise be too trendy for my liking. I can't stand it when a certain outfit can immediately be pigeonholed and "ticks" all those boxes that make it en vogue and in my book pretty damn boring. It's quite a feat when certain items become the token piece of a trend but you still manage to give them that refreshing twist of originality. Let's hope I managed to do that and broke away from those damn subliminal chains that trends put us all in. Having escaped a glossy lacks personal touch and what's the point in getting dressed if you don't incorporate some you? Know what I mean?

I am wearing thesupertrendyandit'sfuckingeverywhere Ganni coat, a pair of leather trousers by Isabel Marant pour H&M thattookoveryourfacebooknewsfeedforthelastmonth, an Acne jumper thatissosoftandcufddlythatitcouldreplaceHamish and a pair of nuff'said Christian Louboutin pumps, ear cuffs by Maria Francesca Pepe and rings by ellisue.

Perfectly Tailored

I have started eyeing my wardrobe realising that certain items need to be taken to the tailor, shortened or the cut slightly altered, this dress being the perfect example. It is a short hemline snippet and a cut optimisation away from the perfect fit, currently sitting at the less than flattering mid-calf length in addition to being slightly too large. Several of my blouses could have tighter collars, trousers shortened or dresses a slightly better fit around the waist. How many of you go to the tailor to have the fit of your items optimised? Zara and Co.'s myriad of sizes and often less than perfect cuts mean every item has a much shorter lifespan than it probably should. I realised I keep those pieces that truly sit flawlessly for much longer, whatever their original cost. Maybe it's time for a complete fitting overhaul in order to avoid cankles thanks to perfectly tailored pieces.

I ventured into the world of hats and bought myself this cat ear riding helmet hybrid that I haven't yet decided on whether it looks ridiculous or cool on my giant head.

Thank you lovely Zoë for these wonderful photos! I had so much fun with you!

I am wearing a Paper London coat, an Asos dress, an H&M necklace, a Gladys Tamez Millinery hat, Nelly x 5inchandup hair cuff, Céline shoes and a Whistles bag.

Apart from the fact that my jeans are clearly far too long, I finally get to show you my Kenzo cloud jumper that has been my trusty companion for the last month. I dug out my dusty pink H&M x Stine Riis coat purchased last year, threw in some citrusy pink and my Nike iD Roshe Run trainers that just arrived a few weeks after I designed them in London. Something super casual to run around town in and walk the dogs. See you later!

Slow-Motion Living

"Stop the glorification of busy." - A sentence I have been saying to myself countless times of the last week. Sometimes I get the feeling we forget to actually live, placing our work and sideprojects on a pedestal whose wobbly feet will eventually force everything to topple like a deck of cards. If your schedule isn't bursting at the seams, there is clearly something wrong with you. Ironically these three photos are the result of exactly that: a manic schedule this past week, shamefully so, but it will be easing up sometime soon. This is all being said without one ounce of glorification. I will be living in slow-motion during those little moments that I can grasp before the next thing is waiting to be done.

P.S. I had two shootings this past week and I can barely contain myself. I will post the results as soon as they can be released.

I am wearing a Rika leather jacket (on sale here), a 3.1 Phillip Lim shirt (similar here), H&M shorts, Sam Edelman boots (similar here) and a Celine bag.

The most appropriate attire for May Day don't you think? We'll see what happens when I parade Dollar print Bermuda shorts and a Wall Street-esque shirt down Berlin's riot filled streets. Maybe one day it will be women with sidecuts laying down the law at the stock market. Most likely in the most awesome, parallel universe.

I am wearing an H&M x MMM men's shirt, Acne Bermuda shorts and Céline pumps.
